For over 30 years now, the Baptist Bible Institute, founded in Toulouse in 1967 and now established in Paris, has shaped servants of God.   More than 70 students have already graduated and are actively serving in the fields of the Lord.

The vision of the founder, Pastor Arthur Sommerville, was that of a practical Bible institute, associating meaningful study with a rich and intensive work on the field itself.

Thus, numerous students have been able to prepare themselves for the various ministries awaiting them, particularly by working to plant and establish local and independent churches.  Numerous assemblies throughout France have been founded by teams of students sent out from the Bible Institute.

The Bible Institute of Paris does not exist to form professors or theologians, but rather to produce servants of God (both pastors and evangelists alike) intended for service in local churches, .  These men and women with a burden for the lost are equipped with all the tools provided by God to accomplish that to which He has called them.

Each student has occasion to participate in the following activities, many on a weekly basis.  These provide a very practical, on-the-field training and benefit the student both spiritually and (for those not yet fluent) linguistically.

Church Ministry, affected in the following areas:

Pastoral (men)
Musical
Children
Young people

Evangelization Efforts, through:

Bible Stands
Open air services/street evangelism
University Students -- contact and conversations
Theological coffee shop discussions
Alongside sister churches throughout France

Communication and Technology

Publishing and Printing
Message recordings
Internet

The curriculum here at PBIB was developed especially for those who have been called to vocational ministry in the country of France and seek preparation for the ministry of a pastor or evangelist.

Particularities:

Our program is taught in a repeating, non-sequential 3-year cycle (classes Sept. to May).  Thus, the student may start his 3 years of study at any moment.

Both the lectures and their practical application in well-defined areas of service are considered by PBIB of equal value.

Subjects taught:

Doctrine
Hermeneutics
Bible- Old Testament
Bible-New Testament
Homiletics
Greek
History of the Church and Missions
Pastoral Theology
Apologetics

Other courses

Epistles, Evangelization of Jews, Evangelization of Children, Music, Fundamentalism, Seminars (i.e. Deviations in Modern Evangelical Circles, Extra-Biblical Contemporary Religious Movements)

Professors:

The professors are pastors or servants of God actively engaged in the ministry, having a certain experience and a vision to communicate this experience to those following in their footsteps.

The goal of this institute being to form persons for the ministry, the applicant must have a clear calling from the Lord to study in this program.  However, auditing the studies is permitted, but does not procure a diploma for the student.

Our program is taught in a repeating, non-sequential 3-year cycle (classes Sept. to May).  Thus, the student may start his 3 years of study at any moment.
